Wings of Britain Vickers Wellington Silver Plated BU Commemorative

£5.95

Description

The Vickers Wellington was the mainstay of RAF Bomber Command during the early years of the Second World War, bearing the brunt of the strategic bombing campaign when Britain stood almost alone against the Axis powers. Designed by the legendary Barnes Wallis using his innovative geodetic airframe construction, the Wellington was remarkably resilient — capable of absorbing extraordinary battle damage and still bringing its crew home. Over eleven thousand were built, more than any other British bomber of the war.

This silver-plated commemorative pays tribute to the Wellington in remarkable detail. Struck to a Brilliant Uncirculated standard with a proof-like finish, this 32mm piece is plated in .999 fine silver and weighs 10.5 grams — a stirring salute to the bomber that held the line when it mattered most.
