Queen Elizabeth II 100th Anniversary 2026 UK £5 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin
Description
As Britain’s longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II presided over a time of extraordinary change while remaining a constant source of stability for the nation.
From her accession to the throne in 1952, every official UK circulating and commemorative coin of her reign was struck by The Royal Mint. Over seven decades, her portrait appeared on billions of coins, making her one of the most recognisable figures in numismatic history.
Now, 100 years since the birth of Queen Elizabeth II, The Royal Mint has issued a special coinage tribute reflecting on her remarkable life and record breaking reign.
This commemorative release features reverse designs created specifically for this important memorial. Heraldic artist Timothy Noad drew inspiration from the intricate ironwork of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II. A second design by artist Henry Gray incorporates oak branches intertwined with hidden symbols representing the four nations of the United Kingdom.
Struck on 21 April 2026, exactly one hundred years since the birth of Queen Elizabeth II, the coin also features a special privy mark inspired by the Lily Font in the private chapel at Buckingham Palace, where the young princess was christened.
Issued in Brilliant Uncirculated quality, this £5 coin marks the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth and pays tribute to one of the most significant monarchs in British history.
